Stacey focuses her practice primarily on family law and divorce. She is a certified family law mediator. Stacey also practices in estate planning and probate.

Stacey entered private practice in Shaheen and Gordon’s Dover office in 2006, after completing a two-year clerkship at the New Hampshire Supreme Court for then-Chief Justice Joseph Nadeau and Justice Gary Hicks. She earned her Juris Doctor degree at the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2004.

In addition to representing clients in a broad range of divorce and other family law matters, Stacey has successfully handled guardianships involving elders and incapacitated parties.

Stacey is also adjunct faculty at Granite State College, where she teaches law-related subjects to undergraduate students.

Recent Cases

Stacey prevailed in a landmark case before the New Hampshire Supreme Court In the Matter of J. B. and J.G., No. 2008-023. This decision secured important rights for individuals filing a parenting petition pursuant to RSA 461-A. When Stacey’s client filed a petition to determine his parental rights, the opposing party filed a motion to dismiss on the ground that a paternity test had showed that he was not the child’s father. However, the client had been recognized as the child’s father on the birth certificate and an affidavit of paternity executed by both parties. In addition, he had weekly parenting time with the child and paid child support. Both the Portsmouth Family Division and the New Hampshire Supreme Court held that the Petitioner could go forward with the parenting petition, the Supreme Court specifically holding that the Petitioner’s non-biological connection to the child was “not fatal” to his parenting petition. The Petitioner was able to establish and maintain his parental rights, responsibilities and relationship with the child.
