Biography
A native of New Hampshire, Karyn conducts an active business and real estate development and litigation practice. She graduated from Rivier College in 1979 and received her J.D. from Franklin Pierce Law Center in 1983. She was admitted to the practice of law in 1983, and appears in both New Hampshire and Maine, state and federal courts.
Karyn currently represents clients who are developing real estate, forming commercial enterprises, and re-structuring closely-held businesses. She serves as general outside counsel to companies, counseling business owners on financing, succession planning, corporate governance and general business and litigation matters.
Representative Cases:
- A landowner, with an approved subdivision, was later denied a building permit by the municipality for a $1,000,000 lot. The municipality at the last minute raised various state and local wetlands issues, while the period for obtaining the permit was fast expiring. After persistent advocacy, the landowner was granted a timely building permit.
- A shareholder dispute arose involving ownership of sensitive source code. Our clients sought, obtained and enforced a protective order, after which experts analyzed and traced the development of the source code. The case was settled and ownership of the source code was maintained.
- A business client accused of eighty plus code violations before the federal Occupational and Safety and Health Commission. The case was resolved favorably.
- A multi-state developer sought to purchase a 100-plus unit development but encountered numerous obstacles with the municipality, state and seller. Diligent work resulted in the award of necessary permits and finally, construction.
