Peter W. Heed

Peter Heed serves Of Counsel to Shaheen & Gordon.

Peter has more than 45 years of experience as a trial attorney.  He began his career as a homicide prosecutor with the criminal division of the NH Attorney General’s Office, and later spent many years in private practice as a law partner with a Keene, NH law firm, focusing on both criminal and civil litigation.  Peter went on to serve as New Hampshire Attorney General and was the Cheshire County Attorney/Chief Prosecutor for twelve years, until returning to private trial practice in 2012.  Peter has also handled numerous appeals before the New Hampshire Supreme Court and Federal Appeals Courts.  He recently has been Of Counsel with Bragdon, Baron & Kossayda P.C. in Keene, maintaining a vigorous trial practice in both criminal and civil matters.

Peter grew up in the Amish country of Chester County, Pennsylvania, and came to New Hampshire when he attended Dartmouth College. He and his family came to Keene in 1980. When not busy with Keene Lions Club shows, he participates in outdoor activities with his wife, Tricia, including paddling, cycling, and Nordic skiing. Peter enters and often wins his age class in national marathon canoe races, and is proud to have represented our country as a former member of the U.S. Marathon Canoe Team.

Peter is a past Board member of the Keene Family YMCA, The Moving Company, and Cedarcrest. He was Moderator for the Town of Westmoreland and has appeared in more than 40 community theater productions. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor of Criminal Justice at Keene State College.
