The Shaheen & Gordon Group recently provided representation to the National Home Service Contract Association with regard to a bill in the New Hampshire Senate that would have included home warranty contracts with insurance contracts even though the state had recognized several years ago that home warranty contracts are not insurance products.
With help from the Association, we were able to present the history of the product to the New Hampshire Senate and get alternative language accepted, as a result, the lines of business are not mixed and issuers of home warranty contracts do not have to worry about being swept up in complex provisions of New Hampshire insurance law that have no bearing on their business.
