Hazel Spires is an associate in Shaheen & Gordon’s personal injury practice group who is dedicated to supporting and uplifting everyday working-class people. She was drawn to personal injury law because she sees it as a powerful way to expand access to justice and help individuals navigate some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
Throughout her legal career, Hazel has focused on serving and supporting underserved communities. Her experience includes public defense work with the Federal Public Defender, and legal research and writing positions centered on advancing discrimination law and evaluating employer compliance with regulations designed to protect farmworkers from pesticide exposure. Together, these experiences reflect her longstanding dedication to fairness and equity.
Hazel’s diverse professional background informs and strengthens her commitment to representing injured clients. After graduating from Northeastern University with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, Hazel managed a team of GIS analysts at an aerial imaging company focused on natural disaster response. Her interest in environmental issues continues to shape her worldview, as she recognizes the profound impact environmental conditions have on the health and well-being of communities everywhere. Hazel has also spent many years in the service industry, working both front and back-of-house roles, including bartending, which she especially enjoys for the sense of connection and community it creates.
Outside of work, Hazel believes that having fun and staying connected to her community are essential parts of a fulfilling life. She enjoys roller skating, mountain biking, camping, yoga, and fiber arts, and values building meaningful relationships with and advocating for her neighbors.
