At the heart of Lauren Breda’s practice are the people she gets to help. The ones who come to her at a moment in their life when they need someone to stand up for them.
Lauren knows how stressful and life-changing a criminal accusation or potential conviction can be and is proud to be able to advocate for her clients and guide them through the court process safely, confidently, and with kindness.
Since graduating from law school, she has dedicated her career to criminal defense, first behind the scenes as a Superior Court law clerk, then in trial at the New Hampshire Public Defender for nine years. During her time with the public defender, Lauren represented over a thousand clients facing charges ranging from driving offenses to homicides, gaining extensive courtroom and trial experience.
Now a partner at Shaheen & Gordon, she represents clients charged with serious misdemeanor and felony crimes including homicide, physical and sexual assaults, thefts, drug offenses, driving while intoxicated, other driving offenses, and juvenile matters. Lauren centers her representation upon her client’s goals, whether that means mitigating potential consequences and reaching a fair resolution or fighting the charges through a trial.
Lauren believes that people are not defined by what they are accused of, and that it is her job to fight to protect their constitutional rights in court. Because when one person’s constitutional rights are threatened or taken away, everyone’s are.
The shape of criminal defense in New Hampshire is ever-changing, but Lauren prides herself on a persevering and dynamic practice. She is constantly learning and growing to meet the shifting needs of the court system, sharing that knowledge not only with her colleagues at Shaheen & Gordon, but also the students she’s taught in her Advanced Trial Advocacy course at the University of New Hampshire School of Law.
As a member of the Management Team at Shaheen & Gordon, she is committed to maintaining the firm’s culture of putting clients first and being a place where good people can do excellent legal work.
Outside of work, you might find Lauren relaxing with her family. There’s nothing she likes more than getting together with her loved ones and having a good meal… with the possible exception of 90’s-2000’s alternative rock.
