Murtaza Akhtar is a member of the firm’s Business Law and Family Law practice groups.
Before moving to the U.S., Murtaza lived in Pakistan, the United Kingdom, and the United Arab Emirates. He received his first law degree from the University of Nottingham in 2009 and went on to practice law in Pakistan for over a decade, initially working at law firms and later switching over to in-house roles. During this time, he advised on complex commercial transactions, including mergers and acquisitions and large-scale industrial projects. His past clients include multinational corporations, closely held corporations, startups, and entrepreneurs. After moving to the U.S., he spent a year at the Office of the Illinois Attorney General and then went back to law school, earning his Juris Doctor from the DePaul University College of Law in 2025.
Now a resident of the Upper Valley, Murtaza looks forward to becoming involved in local civic organizations. When not working, he can be found hiking or running on nearby trails, crewing his wife on her ultramarathons, or trying out new recipes in the kitchen. He also plays guitar and dabbles in photography when his schedule permits.
