Attorney Sean O’Connell, a partner at Shaheen & Gordon, P.A., has been announced as the recipient of the 2024 Citizen of the Year award by the Greater Dover Chamber of Commerce.

Sean has been embedded in the Greater Dover community his whole life. He was raised in Durham and attended UNH for both his B.A. and J.D. Shortly after graduating law school, Sean joined Shaheen & Gordon and started growing a highly respected business law practice based in Dover.

In addition to his busy legal practice, Sean has always found time to dedicate to key community organizations. He has proudly served on the boards of the Children’s Museum of New Hampshire, Great Bay Rowing (which he founded to address a growing interest in rowing in the Seacoast area), Dover Police Charities, Dover Children’s Home, and the Greater Dover Chamber of Commerce itself.

As a former board member of the Children’s Museum, Sean played a key role in the museum’s move from Portsmouth to its Dover location, bringing new vibrancy and tourism to the city.

“Everybody knows and trusts Sean,” says Attorney Michael Noonan, Managing Partner at Shaheen & Gordon, who has worked side-by-side with Sean since 1996. “Throughout his career, Sean has personally represented many local Dover businesses and non-profits, helping them grow and succeed. Plus, he is consistently working to nurture the next generation of talent and encouraging their involvement in the community. From this standpoint, his contribution to Dover’s economy and the business community cannot be overstated.”

The Greater Dover Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Awards dinner will be on Thursday, May 9, 2024, to honor the Citizen of the Year and several other award recipients. Learn more at: https://www.dovernh.org/awards.
