MANCHESTER, NH – William E. Christie, a partner with Shaheen & Gordon, P.A., was honored at the New Hampshire Democratic Party’s recent McIntyre-Shaheen Dinner with the Dunfey-Kanteres Award for his long-time work on behalf of the party.
The award is named for Walter J. Dunfey and E. Leo Kanteres, who are credited with helping shape and strengthen the state’s Democratic Party.
“I am certainly honored to receive this award dedicated to two people who were so committed to making sure the people of New Hampshire were represented properly at every level of government,” Christie says.
Christie is a past recipient of the Bill of Rights Award from The New Hampshire Civil Liberties Union and the Granite Justice Award from the New Hampshire Democratic Party. He has served as an officer and legal counsel for the New Hampshire Democratic Party.
The Concord resident has successfully litigated claims against the State of New Hampshire in the areas of Election Law and First Amendment Law and twice, in 2014 and 2016, convinced the New Hampshire Superior Court to extend Election Day polling hours in order to protect the right to vote. He also successfully challenged a law that put out-of-state students attending school in New Hampshire at risk of not being able to vote.
