Shaheen & Gordon, P.A. Announces Four New Partners for 2018

We are pleased to announce Timothy McLaughlin, Kara J. Dowal, Celine M. Boyle, and Alexander E. Spadinger have been named the firm’s newest partners.

The partnerships are effective January 1, 2018.

A native of Laconia, Tim McLaughlin is an experienced litigator whose practice encompasses a wide range of complex disputes, frequently occurring at the intersection of civil and criminal law. He has appeared in numerous state and federal courts as well as arbitration proceedings and maintains an active pro bono practice having handled matters before the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and elsewhere. A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, and the proud captain of Laconia High School’s 1995 state champion Granite State Challenge team, he has been with S&G since 2015.

Kara Dowal is an experienced health-care attorney and represents clients in a wide range of transactional and regulatory compliance matters. She has experience assisting health care providers and their business associates in employment agreements, complex contract negotiations, and entity formations, conversions, and dissolutions. Prior to joining the firm, Kara practiced corporate and health-care law at a large New Hampshire firm and taught mergers and acquisitions as an Adjunct Professor at the University of New Hampshire’s School of Law.

McLaughlin and Dowal are based in our Concord office.

Celine Boyle’s practice focuses on civil litigation, specifically personal injury, medical malpractice, nursing home negligence and the Federal Tort Claims Act. She is Secretary of the Board of Governors of the Maine Trial Lawyers Association and is currently the Co-Chair of Continuing Legal Education for the MTLA. Since January of 2016, she has been an alternate member of the Grievance Commission of the Board of Overseers of the Bar. She was previously with Smith & Elliott, and has been with the firm since 2014.

Alex Spadinger handles civil litigation and criminal defense cases. He represents victims in personal injury and wrongful death cases and those facing a wide array of criminal charges. He is the York County representative to the Maine State Bar Association’s Board of Governors. Spadinger worked for Smith & Elliott before joining the firm in 2014.

Boyle and Spadinger are based in our Saco office.
